Description
NOTE
This course is focused on the practicalScan-to-BIM workflow, using real Point Cloud data and Revit-based modeling workflows.
What exactly is Scan-to-BIM?
How do you turn Reality Capture data into a usable BIM model?
How do you make sure the final model accurately represents the existing building?
This course is designed to answer these questions and take you through thecomplete Scan-to-BIM workflow, from Reality Capture and laser scanning fundamentals all the way to BIM modeling, QA/QC, and visualization.
You will start by understanding what Scan-to-BIM is, how 3D laser scanning and LiDAR capture real-world conditions, and how point cloud data becomes the foundation for accurate BIM modeling.
You will then work extensively withAutodesk ReCap Pro to understand how scan data is imported, registered, organized, visualized, classified, edited, optimized, and prepared for use in BIM workflows.
From there, we move intoRevit, where you will work with real point cloud data and develop BIM models across multiple disciplines, including
✨Architecture
✨Structure
✨MEP
You will model real building elements such as walls, floors, doors, windows, stairs, railings, structural elements, piping, fire protection systems, ductwork, cable trays, and conduits.
But the workflow doesn't stop at basic modeling.
You will also exploreadvanced Scan-to-BIM scenarios, including renovation, heritage projects, complex architectural geometry, topography generation, parametric modeling, and mesh-based workflows.
The course also introduces specialized tools and workflows such asReCap Mesh, Qbitec for Revit, Leica TruView, and NavVis IVION, helping you understand how point cloud data can be visualized, analyzed, extended, and used throughout a modern Reality Capture workflow.
Finally, we move beyond modeling intoQA/QC and project delivery.
You will learn how to manually verify your BIM model and use Qbitec's Quality Analysis tools fordeviation, accuracy, completeness, and clash detection, helping you evaluate whether your model meets the required tolerance and quality standards.
And to complete the workflow, you will bring your point cloud and BIM data intoTwinmotion for visualization and presentation.
Throughout the course, you will work with
✨ Point Cloud & Reality Capture
✨ Autodesk ReCap Pro
✨ 3D Laser Scanning & LiDAR Fundamentals
✨ Point Cloud Registration & Preparation
✨ Revit Architecture, Structure & MEP
✨ ReCap Mesh & Mesh-based Workflow
✨ Qbitec for Revit
✨ Leica Truview & NavVis IVION
✨ Advanced Renovation & Heritage Modeling
✨ QA/QC & Model Verification and Project Delivery
✨ Deviation, Accuracy, Completeness Check & Clash Detection
✨ Twinmotion Visualization
This course is designed for professionals and learners who want to go beyond simply knowing Revit tools and understandhow those tools are applied to real-world existing conditions and point cloud data.
Whether you are aRevit Modeler, BIM professional, Architect, Structural or MEP Modeler, Scan-to-BIM specialist, VDC professional, or someone looking to enter the Reality Capture and Scan-to-BIM field, this course gives you a practical foundation for working with point clouds from capture to coordinated BIM and final presentation.
