Code:
This is a major new version including the following new features:
- Version 10 introduced a new “version-less” project file format (.sipx), which makes project files more future-proof, reduces file sizes, and speeds up processing.
- For data handling: there’s a new “Volume Store” to manage volume data more efficiently — this helps prevent duplication of Sites and Networks and makes scenario analyses cleaner.
- The update enhances modelling capabilities: New Site Types are added — including Turbo Roundabouts, Arterial Segments, Freeway Segments, and Freeway Segments with Ramps.
- On traffic signal and network modelling: the update supports real-number signal timings, multiple green periods (i.e. more flexible signal timing plans), improved queue-modelling, and a new Exit Merge Queue Model to better capture merging behaviour and delays.
- The user interface was refreshed: A redesigned ribbon UI, drag-and-drop features, better search/import tools, and easier navigation make the software more user friendly.
- Integration with mapping dаta: The software’s mapping component now integrates with OpenStreetMap (OSM), allowing advanced visualisation and site creation directly from map data — helps when building real-world intersection/network scenarios.
- Supporting tools: The associated Excel utility for volume data has been improved, making it easier to integrate traffic volume data from external sources.
