    Description
    In this self-paced course, you will learn key English vocabulary and functional phrases for common interactions between health professionals and patients. This course is aimed at anyone who needs to communicate with patients and / or healthcare colleagues in an English-speaking setting, and provides relevant topics and language for those working towards taking the OET (Occupational English Test).

    It focuses on typical situations healthcare professionals need to understand and react to, such as:asking about and understanding pain using the Calgary-Cambridge medical consultation frame work taking vital signs summarizing patient cases giving bad news using the SPIKES protocol Lessons contain useful and frequent vocabulary, put this vocabulary into context through audio recordings and support memory through transcripts, extra practice tasks and role-plays. For many healthcare professionals, colloquial English is as much of a challenge as technical medical language, so the course includes language which is natural, presents both more formal and informal ways to say things and teaches complete phrases as well as individual words.

    When it comes to learning, for most people, the more thinking and participating that takes place, the more likely the language is to stay in the memory. That's why this course is designed to engage you as an active participant, not just a passive listener!

    Health professionals (medical students, nurses, doctors, carers etc.), looking to improve their health / Medical English to gain information from patients, and to improve their confidence when speaking to / assessing patients in English. Medical professionals working towards the OET (Occupational English Test).
