    Maxsurf 2024 (24.00.00.722)

The MAXSURF development team is pleased to announce the release of Maxsurf 2024 (24.00.00.722). Visualize and optimize vessel designs with the complete set of integrated naval architecture tools in Maxsurf.

Bentley Lifecycle Policy, version numbering and side-by-side installation:
Bentley Systems has made changes to the support lifecycle of desktop applications. One of the key changes is that major versions of Maxsurf will be supported with critical fixes for at least five years, although users are still encouraged to update to each new version to benefit from new features that are added to Maxsurf.
The main change is that we will be moving to year-based naming for all products, thus this release is Maxsurf 2024. The version numbering (MM.MM.uu.bb) changes slightly with now the first two digit pairs (MM.MM) indicating the major version number of the software; the next pair of digits (uu) is the minor update of that major release (if any) and the final pair (bb) is the build number. Major versions continue to be installed side-by-side on the same machine; thus “Maxsurf 2024” (v24.00.00) can be installed alongside “Maxsurf 2023”. Minor updates to a major release releases will replace the any existing installation with the same major version number; thus v24.00.01 would replace v24.00.00 but still be called “Maxsurf 2024”.

Maxsurf and Multiframe product tier consolidation
From Maxsurf 2023 onwards there is only one tier level of Maxsurf which contain all features and capabilities. The License Configuration dialog will continue to be displayed when starting an application primarily for verification of the license status since there are no tier options to select. Furthermore, both Maxsurf and Multiframe have been integrated under the MOSES brand.

    Main enhancements in Maxsurf 2024

Stability Probabilistic damage analysis, Final Equilibrium
The probabilistic damage analysis now provides the option of computing the vessel hydrostatics at the final equilibrium damaged waterline for each damage and loadcase combination. The results of these equilibrium analyses are shown in the new Probabilistic Damage Equilibrium results table. You may use the Display | Data Format dialog to select which columns are displayed; in addition to the standard Equilibrium analysis results you can also select to display the minimum freeboard of key lines and key points. The rows in this table have a 1:1 correspondence with the rows in the Probabilistic Damage results table.

Conditional flooding of Tanks and Compartments
The conditional flooding option has been extended to Tanks and Compartments (as well as non-buoyant Volumes as introduced in the previous version).

    Modeler COM interface Automation
Quite a few additions have been made to the Modeler COM Automation interface – please refer to the ModelerAutomation.chm file installed with the application documentation for full details.
    - Import and export of additional mesh formats including OBJ, OFF, and WAMIT
    - Surface Meshing with greater control over mesh parameters
    - Mesh repair
    - Direct manipulation of NURB surface control point locations
    - NURB surface bonding

Maxsurf offers comprehensive capabilities for the design of all types of marine vessels. Create fair hull shapes, comply with stability requirements, minimize power requirements, and ensure crew and passenger comfort in varying sea states. Minimize structural weight while ensuring scantling compliance through initial modeling and stress analysis of beam and plate structures. Maxsurf applications operate from a single parametric 3D model that facilitates smooth communication and coordination among different team members and design activities.

Bentley’s MAXSURF software is used by naval architects worldwide for the design of all types of vessels; including many types of multihulls. MAXSURF software has been used at the forefront of multihull design since the first developments of the high-speed catamaran ferry market in Australia; and has worked in partnership with several leading Australian shipyards to deliver software which addresses some of the important considerations specific to multihull vessel design. The MAXSURF software, operating from a single parametric 3D model, streamlines the process across all phases of the vessel design workflow: from concept prototype, through initial design to detailed design layout. Whatever your application (high-speed ferry, offshore support vessel, semi-submersible, sailing catamaran or SWATH) attend this complimentary webinar to discover how MAXSURF software can be used to develop, analyze and optimize your multihull vessel designs.
