    Oasys Frew v19.0.0.16

    Geotechnical - Retaining Walls Software
The ideal tool for embedded retaining wall analysis
Analyses flexible retaining structures such as sheet pile or diaphragm walls

Analyses flexible retaining structures such as sheet pile or diaphragm walls. The program calculates deformations and the stresses in the retaining structure through a number of construction stages from the initial installation of the wall through a series of activities such as variations of soil levels and water pressures, the insertion or removal of ground anchors and the application or removal of surcharges.

Frew analyses the soil structure interaction of a flexible retaining wall, for example a sheet pile or diaphragm wall. The wall is represented as a line of nodal points and three stiffness matrices relating nodal forces to displacements are developed.

Frew is the ideal tool for embedded retaining wall analysis. It checks the stability of cantilever and propped retaining walls, predicts the displacement, shear forces, and bending moments of the wall and calculates the earth and water pressures on each side at each construction stage. Suitable for sheet pile, secant, contiguous or diaphragm walls, it supports the latest building standards and is relied upon by leading engineering firms worldwide.

The ideal tool for embedded retaining wall analysis
Frew enables engineers to define and solve even the most complex embedded retaining wall problem quickly. Easy to set up and use, Frew is relied upon by leading engineering firms around the world.

Fast analysis with high quality and flexible output

    Input

Frew has been developed with a model wizard to enable the user to set up the problem quickly and Frew automatically generates nodes for the user based on level inputs. Advanced input features are also available such as the batch testing feature which allow the user to compare the performance to the retaining wall at different toe levels.

With this software, engineers can calculate the required wall embedment length using a choice of methods. Frew offers quick problem setup and revision with a unique stage ‘memory’ feature.

    Analysis

Frew checks the stability of cantilever and propped retaining walls using the Limit Equilibrium analysis methodology. Using Soil Structure Interaction, Frew predicts the displacement, shear forces, and bending moments of the wall. With this software, engineers can calculate the required wall embedment length using a choice of methods. Frew offers quick problem setup and revision with a unique stage ‘memory’ feature. It enables users to model sheet pile corrosion by varying the stiffness down the wall.

More advanced analysis options have been developed for Frew. For example, the user can carry out integral bridge analysis or model wall relaxation.

    Output

Frew and predicts the displacement, shear forces, and bending moments of the wall. The program also calculates the earth and water pressures on each side at each construction stage. Suitable for sheet pile, secant, contiguous or diaphragm walls, it supports the latest building standards.

It also provides fast analysis with high quality and flexible output, including results that can be exported to Excel for post-processing.

    New Features:

Added New Model Wizard to create Frew model with minimum input data.
Added new Preference dialog, Units dialog, Startup dialog and Help menu.
Added a new option to allow the user to enter level-based data instead of node based data.
Added new stability check feature to test the stability of the retaining wall in all the stages.
Added node generation tool to automate the calculation of node postions from level based data.
Calculations converted to C++ and undrained pore pressure calculation moved to within iterations.
Allow specification of a range of wall toe levels and batch analysis of files [Build 7 onwards]
Differentiate between total and effective stress in tabular and graphical output [Build 15 onwards]

Operating System: Supported: Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit), Windows Vista (32-bit and 64-bit), Windows XP (32-bit and 64-bit)
