Mat Foundation using Staad Foundation Advanced
In STAAD Foundation Advance, the analysis and design of mats is based on the finite element theory coupled with slabs on elastic sub grade principles. Modelling a mat foundation involves generating the slab as a mesh of finite elements. As with any finite element model, the denser the mats, the closer the results should converge towards the theoretical solution, but processing time will increase as well. Selecting a mesh density is more of an art than a science, but the general concept is that the mesh should be as coarse as possible, while still providing results of an adequate accuracy.
