Preface
The propagation of high-frequency, body waves or ‘rays’ in elastic media is crucial
to our understanding of the interior of the Earth at all scales. Although considerable
progress has been made in modelling and interpreting the complete seismic
spectrum, much seismic interpretation still relies on ray theory and its extensions.
The aim of this book is to provide a comprehensive and consistent development of
the modelling methods used to describe high-frequency, body waves in elastodynamics.
